Death penalty sought for couple who tortured son, 3

The death penalty is being sought for a couple who allegedly tortured their three-year-old son in a house of horrors where dents in the wall are though to show where they hung him upside down to whip him.

Jillian Tait, 31, and Gary Lee Fellenbaum, 23, are charged with murdering Tait's son, Scott McMillan.

The Chester County District Attorney's Office told the pair at their arraignments this week that prosecutors will seek the death penalty against them because the boy died by torture and was younger than 12.

Officials said the Pennsylvania couple went car shopping, bought pizza and took a nap as Scott lay dying after weeks of escalating abuse that ended in three days of systematic torture.  More   Strange News

Man arrested after mother found decapitated

Tensions had been brewing for several days inside the home at 1924 Sheffield Court in Oldsmar, according to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Elizabeth Brady.

Christian Jose Gomez, 23, was jealous of his older brother, Mario Gomez, because he felt their mother, Maria Suarez-Cassagne, 48, was giving him more attention, said Brady.

Then Suarez-Cassagne began asking her youngest son to move some boxes in the attic.

On New Year’s Eve, the three, along with a 16-year-old sister, sat down for what would be Suarez-Cassagne’s last meal.

Hours later, her decapitated body was found outside the house, her head inside a garbage can. Deputies say Christian Gomez later acknowledged killing his mother with an ax.  More   Strange News

Woman posed as lawyer, negotiated plea deals for clients

SALT LAKE CITY – Utah police have arrested a woman suspected of posing as a lawyer and negotiating a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Investigators believe Karla Carbo, 29, of South Jordan impersonated an attorney at least three times during the last six months, Sheriff’s Capt. Justin Martinez said on Wednesday.

Carbo was arrested on suspicion of fraud, forgery and identity theft Tuesday, a week after negotiating felony counts down to misdemeanors during plea negotiations on behalf of a client in Summit County, east of Salt Lake City.

The plea caught the attention of Utah State Bar Association officials, who reported that Carbo had been using a legitimate attorney’s name and bar number to represent clients without a license, police said.  More    Strange News
