Man robs Bronx barber shop with two others after getting haircut

Three crooks ran off with the cash register from a Bronx barber shop — after one of the goons received a haircut, officials said Saturday.

Cops are now looking for the freshly coiffed crook, who they identified as Ramael Pierson (picture), 24.

He and two accomplices entered Alante Barber Shop and Beauty Salon on Westchester Ave. in East Morrisania at 9:42 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

After Pierson got clipped, cops said, he pulled a gun on his barber and demanded his cash.

Then the trio grabbed the cash register, said police, who did not disclose the amount stolen.  More

WICHITA, Kan. — A 36-year-old woman who had been sexually assaulted and set on fire died Saturday morning, police said, just over a week after she was found in a Wichita park with severe burns on more than half her body and cuts on her head.

Firefighters were responding to a late-night grass fire when they found the woman on Nov. 14 and took her to a hospital. Police Lt. James Espinoza told The Wichita Eagle that she died around 9:40 a.m. Saturday.

Cornell A. McNeal, 26, of Wichita, had been charged Friday with attempted capital murder and rape in the attack, as well as with two counts of arson stemming from fires that were set that day in the park and at a garage. More

ATLANTA – A man killed the dog while firing multiple gunshots into a Chevy Suburban that was loaded with children.

Witnesses say the shooting began with road rage and ended up with the gunman following the SUV to a strip mall on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard.

“About five minutes later, they pulled back through,” said one of the victims, who asked not to be identified. “They just rolled right up; they pulled a gun out and started (shooting).”

The dog could be seen in surveillance video trotting past one of the nearby shops after the shooting occurred (picture). More

Death row killer’s prison food complaint rejected

HARTFORD, Connecticut – A federal judge in Connecticut has rejected the arguments of a home invasion killer on death row who complained that the food he is being served in prison is not kosher.

Steven Hayes, convicted of killing a mother and two daughters, sued the Department of Correction in August, alleging the preparation practices for kosher meals in the kitchen at the state’s highest-security prison do not conform to Jewish dietary laws.

Hayes describes himself in the lawsuit as an Orthodox Jew and says he’s been requesting a kosher diet since May 2013. He says he has suffered “almost two years of emotional injury from having choose between following God and starving or choosing sin to survive.” More

Court seeks death penalty for ‘killer’ child bride

KANO, Nigeria — The father of a 14-year-old child bride accused of murdering her husband said Thursday he was appealing to a Nigerian court to spare his daughter the death sentence.

Wasilat Tasi’u is on trial for the murder of her 35-year-old husband, Umar Sani, who died after eating food that Tasi’u allegedly laced with rat poison.

“We are appealing to the judge to consider Wasilat’s plea,” her father, Isyaku Tasi’u, told the Associated Press on Thursday.

“She was married to a man that she didn’t love. She protested but her parents forced her to marry him,” Zubeida Nagee, a women’s rights activist in Kano, told AP.

Nagee and other activists have written a letter of protest to the Kano state deputy governor. More

St. Louis woman loses eye after police fire bean bag at car during Ferguson protest

Ferguson, Missouri - A pregnant St. Louis woman wants justice after she lost her left eye in a violent run-in with police early Tuesday at the edge of Ferguson, Mo.

Before Dornnella Conner went for a ride into the hell that engulfed St. Louis suburb on Monday night, she shared an illustration with her Facebook friends of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin walking arm-in-arm – along with her own thoughts: “RIP – feeling mad.”

Just hours later she would be part of the tragic storyline when a police officer fired a non-lethal bean bag round at the car her boyfriend was driving, shattering the passenger side window and leaving her face a bloody mess, according to reports. More

Two New Black Panthers plotted to kill Ferguson police chief, prosecutor Bob McCulloch and bomb Gateway Arch in St. Louis

Missouri – Two members of the New Black Panthers in St. Louis planned to use the chaos in the post-Darren Wilson grand jury announcement to bomb the iconic Gateway Arch and kill prosecutor Bob McCulloch and Ferguson top cop Tom Jackson, local media reports.

Both Brandon Orlando Baldwin and Olajuwon Ali Davis (picture) were busted Nov. 20 giving false information while buying two pistols at a suburban Missouri Cabela’s outdoors store, federal prosecutors say.

But the plot went deeper than that. The two bought what they thought was a pipe bomb in a federal sting, and were thwarted from buying more because they needed to wait to get more cash on one man’s girlfriend’s Electronic Benefit Transfer card, sources told the St. Louis Times-Dispatch.

EBT cards are used to distribute welfare funds to low-income households. More

3-year-old Florida girl, raped, beaten by new stepfather before death: police

A 3-year-old Florida girl was raped and beaten by her new stepfather before she died Monday, police said.

Charlie Brame had signs of recent sexual and "aggravated child abuse with severe brain trauma," according to an Orlando Police Department report.

She died in an Orlando hospital after her stepfather, Pascal Kaufmann, reported Brame had stopped moving Saturday, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Kaufmann, 19, was behind Brame's injuries and was charged with child neglect and rape, police said.

Kaufmann moved to the United States from Germany in August and wed Brame's mother about a week ago, according to a police report.

On Saturday, he babysat Brame while her mother was at work, according to his arrest report. More

Woman Arrested For $6,400 Sausage Heist

Texas – A woman was arrested yesterday for stealing more than $6,400 worth of sausage from the Kiolbassa Provision Company, a San Antonio firm that has been smoking meat since 1949.

According to an arrest affidavit, Regina Shaw, 45, was linked to the September 14 theft via surveillance footage that recorded her taking a “pallet of meat product” from the purveyor.

Shaw, who worked for the firm, was charged with felony theft and booked into the Bexar County jail. She was subsequently released on $5000 bond.

As detailed by a San Antonio Police Department detective, Shaw allegedly fenced a portion of the meat through a man who “purchased some boxes of Kiolbassa sausage” from her. More

Darren Wilson’s friends demand that ‘star’ witness in Michael Brown case be charged with perjury for his ‘hands up, don’t shoot lie’

Missouri – Close friends of Darren Wilson have called for the star witness in the Michael Brown shooting to be charged for lying about what he saw.

Two of the Ferguson police officer’s best friends told MailOnline that Dorian Johnson (picture) – who was next to Brown at the time – should be arrested for his statements in numerous TV interviews he made days afterwards.

They say that he made up the claim that Brown had his hands up which kickstarted the ‘Hands up, don’t shoot’ protest movement.

For his part Johnson told the grand jury that the whole process has left him feeling ‘victimized’. More

Michael Hanline, wrongly convicted in 1978 killing, freed

When he first stepped outside, Michael Hanline looked up at the sky as if for the first time.

Wearing a dark sweatshirt with "XONER8" across the front, his white hair pulled into a ponytail and a cane in hand, California's longest-serving wrongfully convicted inmate walked out of jail Monday a free man.

His wife, Sandee, had brought him his cowboy boots, which she had kept clean and shiny over the last three decades, but they would not fit over his GPS ankle bracelet. Instead, he wore white sneakers.

But in addition to DNA evidence that didn't match, several sealed police reports were uncovered that cast doubt on testimony by Hanline's then-girlfriend, Mary Bischoff, who was granted immunity and was a key witness during the trial. More

CHESAPEAKE, Virginia – Police have arrested a woman they say claimed to be the owner of a lost dog and then attempted to sell the dog on Craigslist.

Michael Brown’s Family Church Burned Down – Pastor: Whites Did

Ferguson – The Rev. Carlton Lee told NBC News that he believes Flood Christian Church was targeted because he has repeatedly called for the arrest of Officer Darren Wilson, who fatally shot the unarmed teen but was not indicted by a grand jury.

“I’m very vocal in regards to the Michael Brown case,” said Lee, who has participated in rallies and press conferences with Michael Brown Sr.

The church went up in flames around the same time about a dozen other buildings were set ablaze in Ferguson by protesters angered by the grand jury’s decision, but it’s on a remote section of West Florissant Avenue where other structures were unscathed.

The pastor said he doubted the same people who were raging on the other end of West Florissant had burned his church. Instead, he said, he suspected white supremacists who wanted to punish him for his support of the Brown family, who had just been baptized there. More

Ferguson Protesters Throw Rocks, Bottles of Urine at Police

FERGUSON, Missouri – National Guard reinforcements helped contain the latest protests in Ferguson, preventing a second night of the chaos that led to arson and looting after a grand jury decided not to indict the police officer who killed Michael Brown.

Demonstrators returned Tuesday to the riot-scarred streets.

But with hundreds of additional troops standing watch over neighborhoods and businesses, the protests had far less destructive power than the previous night.

However, officers still used some tear gas and pepper spray, and demonstrators set a squad car on fire and broke windows at City Hall. More

Ferguson Witness: Michael Brown Charged Cop “Like a Football Player. Head Down”

Missouri – Included in the grand jury material released after the announcement that no charges would be filed in the Michael Brown killing is a handwritten witness account stating that the teenager charged at Officer Darren Wilson “like a football player. Head down.”

The unidentified witness wrote that the 18-year-old Brown “has his arms out with attitude,” while “The cop just stood there.” The witness added, “Dang if that kid didn’t start running right at the cop like a football player. Head down.”

The witness told of hearing “3 bangs,” but “the big kid wouldn’t stop.”

The witness’s account of the unarmed Brown charging Wilson–even after he had been shot in the hand during a struggle at the cop’s patrol car–supports the officer’s contention that he fired a series of shots as Brown bore down on him. More

Protesters burn and loot their own town

Missouri – There were 29 arrests made after protesters fired more than 100 gunshots, burned and looted as many as 25 buildings and vandalized police cars in Ferguson, Mo. after a grand jury did not indict a police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August, St. Louis Unified Command said in a press conference Tuesday morning.

Heavily armed police fired pepper spray and smoke canisters to disperse the crowds of protesters. Police seized a .45 mm automatic handgun as well.

“We have no loss of life, but I am disappointed the night turned out this way,” St. Louis Police Department Chief Jon Belmar said.

Belmar said he heard more than 150 shots ring off in the night. More

NO CHARGES: Grand jury does not indict officer in Ferguson shooting case, violence, looting

Missouri - A grand jury declined to indict the Ferguson police officer on Monday who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in August in a case that touched off nationwide protests and cries of police brutality.

Almost immediately, the decision ignited protests in the Missouri city, as demonstrators clashed with police. Gunshots were reported near the Ferguson Police Department, and authorities used smoke and pepper spray to disperse crowds near the building after some protesters smashed the windows of a police car and threw rocks and other items at authorities. Looters were visible inside at least one Ferguson store.

It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries or if anyone had been arrested.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Bob McCulloch announced the decision not to indict Darren Wilson on Monday evening. A grand jury of nine whites and three blacks had been meeting weekly since Aug. 20 to consider evidence in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown, 18. The panel met for 70 hours and heard from 60 witnesses. More

Florida dad fights wife, courts to keep daughter from alleged abuser

Florida – A Florida father is nearly out of options in his desperate effort to protect his 8-year-old daughter from her 17-year-old half-brother, who he claims to have witnessed sexually assaulting her — yet who still regularly visits the girl in their mother’s home.

“It was the most horrific thing I had ever witnessed in my life,” Carl Sumner, of Boca Raton, told FoxNews.com, adding that he sought treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder after the incident. “There’s no question as to what happened to my daughter and when it happened. I saw it. I heard her crying.”

Sumner, 55, said he was preparing dinner in March 2010 when he heard his then 4-year-old daughter crying inside a bedroom at the family’s home.

When he opened the door, Sumner claims, he witnessed the girl’s 12-year-old half-brother sexually assaulting the child, who was naked from the waist down and screaming. His estranged wife, who is the mother of both children and has custody of the girl, does not dispute that sexual abuse occurred. More

Mom charged with trying to kill baby - threw him down an 8-foot deep drain

SYDNEY – A 30-year-old Sydney mother has been charged with trying to kill her newborn son by abandoning him in a roadside drain for five days before passers-by heard his cries, police said Monday.

The week-old baby was in serious but stable condition in Westmead Children's Hospital a day after cyclists found him in a 8-foot deep drain beside the M7 Motorway in the suburb of Quakers Hill, police said in a statement.

His mother, Saifale Nai, did not appear in court to answer the attempted murder charge. Her lawyer did not enter a plea and the magistrate formally refused her bail.

Nai will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Friday. She would face a potential maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if convicted. More

Gambling nuke commander linked to fake poker chips

The admiral fired last year as No. 2 commander of U.S. nuclear forces may have made his own counterfeit $500 poker chips with paint and stickers to feed a gambling habit that eventually saw him banned from an entire network of casinos, according to a criminal investigative report obtained by The Associated Press.

Though Rear Adm. Timothy M. Giardina’s removal as deputy head of U.S. Strategic Command was announced last year, evidence of his possible role in manufacturing the counterfeit chips has not previously been revealed.

Investigators said they found his DNA on the underside of an adhesive sticker used to alter genuine $1 poker chips to make them look like $500 chips.

Nor had the Navy disclosed how extensively he gambled. More

Mom confesses to killing her infant son 53 years ago

Michigan – An elderly Michigan woman living in a nursing home has come forward with a startling confession: She killed her 8-month-old son 53 years ago. Two of the women’s other children now wonder if she also killed their twin sisters years later.

Janice Summerfield, 77, recently confessed to killing William Earl Summerfield III. In a story Sunday, the Battle Creek Enquirer said Summerfield confessed to smothering little Billy during interviews with her 54-year-old daughter Paula Gastian, a detective and a reporter.

“I killed that baby,” Summerfield, who is in a nursing home in Kalamazoo, told the Enquirer reporter. “My mind wasn’t right. I killed that baby. I didn’t know what I was doing.”

On Oct. 16, the boy’s tiny casket was removed from a cemetery grave marked only with a number. The Calhoun County Sheriff Department opened a homicide investigation. Detective Steve Hinkley told the paper he is awaiting results of an autopsy to determine a possible cause of death. More

Man Gets Death Penalty for Shooting Ex-Girlfriend, Lighting Her on Fire

A man who shot his former girlfriend and lit her on fire in front of her children was sentenced to death Friday, prosecutors said.

In February 2011, Tyrone Harts, 41, killed Brandi Morales in the Los Angeles-area home she shared with her six children. Officials said Harts had previously lived there, but the couple had split up several weeks before.

On the night of the murder, police said he called the house and spoke to her children, telling one of them to leave the sliding glass door unlocked.

Morales’ two oldest children were awakened by their mother’s screams on Feb. 21, prompting the oldest boy to grab a kitchen knife and go to her room, officials said. Harts shot at the boy, who ran away while the other four children woke up. More

Cleveland police officer shoots 12-year-old boy carrying BB gun

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A rookie Cleveland police officer shot a 12-year-old boy outside a city recreation center late Saturday afternoon after the boy pulled a BB gun from his waistband, police said.

Police were responding to reports of a male with a gun outside Cudell Recreation Center at Detroit Avenue and West Boulevard about 3:30 p.m., Deputy Chief of Field Operations Ed Tomba said.

A rookie officer and a 10-15 year veteran pulled into the parking lot and saw a few people sitting underneath a pavilion next to the center. The rookie officer saw a black gun sitting on the table, and he saw the boy pick up the gun and put it in his waistband, Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association President Jeffrey Follmer said.

The officer got out of the car and told the boy to put his hands up. The boy reached into his waistband, pulled out the gun and the rookie officer fired two shots, Tomba said. More

Woman willingly posed for picture holding stolen credit card

Florida – After four months on the lam, the Florida woman who willingly posed for a photo holding a stolen credit card has been arrested.

Mashana Harris, 26, was collared Tuesday at a motel in Ocala. Charged with two felony fraud counts, Harris was booked into the Marion County jail, from which she was released Wednesday after posting bond.

As detailed in an Ocala Police Department report, when Harris sought to pay for $430 worth of goods at the Looking Good Beauty Supply shop, a cashier asked to see a government-issued identification card. Harris, however, replied that she did not have the requested ID.

Since the store employee “did not feel comfortable with the transaction,” he asked the customer if he could take a photo of her holding the credit card. More

Man Rapes 5-Year-Old Girl, Blames Her For It

An Ohio man convicted of raping a 5-year-old girl blamed the victim for his crime during his sentencing.

Clifford Taylor, a 51-year-old former research scientist, was given the maximum sentence of 22 years on Nov. 12, the News-Herald reported.

In October, Taylor admitted in court to molesting his girlfriend's daughter while baby-sitting her sometime between May and July of last year, according to Cleveland.com. The child later told her mother, who went to authorities. Taylor was convicted on two counts of rape.

During his sentencing, Taylor blamed his defense lawyer for suggesting the plea deal he had earlier agreed to take.

“I was threatened with mental incompetence," Taylor said of his lawyer. "He threatened me, saying there was some reason I wasn’t thinking properly.” More

Client of Colorado escort, single mom arrested for murder 7 years after her disappearance

Lester Ralph Jones, 63, was arrested Friday for the 2007 kidnapping and murder of Paige Birgfeld, a single mom who led a secret life as an escort.

After seven years of hunting for the person who killed a Colorado single mom who led a secret life as an escort, police arrested one of her clients Friday.

Paige Birgfeld vanished in 2007 and her remains were found in 2012 in a dry creek in Mesa County, not far from her Grand Junction home.

Lester Ralph Jones, who was one of the last people to call the 34-year-old mom before she disappeared, was a suspect in the case from the start, CBS Denver reported. The 63-year-old was finally arrested Friday.

Birgfeld's double life — which her own family did not know about until she died — made the case complex, Sheriff-Elect Matt Lewis said. More

Russell Lamar Rose Jr. repeatedly slammed baby into a sidewalk

A Wisconsin man who was repeatedly described by police as a “monster” has been charged with first-degree murder in the ghastly killing of his 11-month-old daughter, authorities said.

Russell Lamar Rose Jr. repeatedly slammed little Serenity into a Kenosha sidewalk, at times raising his hands over his head, according to police.

Rose, 34, had gone on a seething rampage Tuesday while arguing with the child’s mother, police said, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Officers were so repelled by what they found after answering an emergency call, the Kenosha Police Department posted the graphic criminal complaint on its Facebook page.

First responders performed CPR on the battered and disfigured baby, but she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Her skull had been fractured several times.

Her mother told police Rose had choked her, kicked her down the stairs and tackled her as she tried to run away with the baby. More

Amber Alert for Galveston baby canceled due to hoax; charges filed

GALVESTON, Texas - Authorities now say the Amber Alert for a Galveston baby has been canceled because the whole thing was a hoax. The woman who made the false claims is now facing charges.

“We have no missing child. We have a lady who has made a false police report to get her car back. It is absolutely insane that somebody would do that,” said Galveston Police Chief Henry Porretto.

Mikeshia Taylor was arrested and charged with filing a false report.

Porretto said because the case involved so many different agencies and resources, the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office has upgraded the charges to a state felony. More
