A jury has found two brothers guilty on charges that they attempted to defraud One Fund Boston of $2 million.
Branden Mattier, 22, and his brother, Domunique Grice, 27, both of the South End, were convicted of Conspiracy to Commit Larceny over $250 and Attempt to Commit Larceny over $250 by a jury on Friday.
Mattier was also convicted of Identity Fraud
Prosecutors say the brothers submitted a claim on behalf of their aunt, who had actually died ten years ago.
They also alleged during the trial that Mattier and Grice had scheduled an appointment to test drive a new Mercedes-Benz E350 the same day their check was scheduled to arrive.
Investigators also said evidence showed the brothers posed as family members of a bombing victim on multiple occasions.
They attended a private ceremonial closing of the memorial set up in Copley Square and attended a complimentary dinner at the Seaport Hotel for bombing victims and their families.
The brothers could face up to five years in prison.
