BOYCOTT NAPERVILLE RIBFEST!
The Naperville festival best known for ribs and rock will be adding a Latin flair this weekend.
While Roger Hodgson and 7th Heaven play the Ribfest main stage Saturday, Del Castillo and Contrabanda will take the second stage as part of the first El Dia de los Hispanos.
Ribfest's marketing and public relations chair, Don Emery, said the move is aimed toward increasing attendance as the area grows more diverse.
"I basically said, 'What are we doing to sort of welcome other groups of people here?'" Emery said.
Hispanic Day will feature Latin music from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday on the Ribber Row Stage, including the band Del Castillo, which will bring a mix of rock, Latin and blues music that has appeared on movie soundtracks such as "Sin City" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." Other performers include Contrabanda, La Obra, Viaje and Rio Bamba.
