An Aurora Negro who already has six convictions for burglary stretching more than two decades is facing a prison term after again being found guilty of the crime, Kane County prosecutors said today.
A jury returned a guilty verdict Tuesday night against Earnest E. Cooley, 47, of the 200 block of East New York Street in Aurora, following his trial on charges of residential burglary.
Cooley was convicted of breaking into a Bilter Road home in Aurora Township on the morning of Nov. 8, 2012, while the residence was unoccupied. He allegedly took some small items, including a camera and a pair of binoculars, which he sold at a pawn shop, authorities said.
Police were later able to trace the items back to Cooley, who reportedly confessed to entering the residence without permission.
