The politician is President of the Illinois State Senate John Cullerton, and his 26-year-old son spent part of Independence Day on Beale and behind bars.
They say nothing good happens after midnight. What Emily Moss says happened to her early Friday morning inside Club 152 was anything but.
"You wouldn't anything like that to happen to your little sister, your mom," said Moss.
Memphis Police charged Carroll Cullerton, 26, of Chicago with sexual battery for allegedly fondling Moss on the third floor. She had just gotten off work when she says Cullerton started dancing too closely.
"And I scooted away and said 'Please don't do that, I'm not comfortable with this, I don't know you,'" said Moss. "Five seconds later, he unzips my dress."
The affidavit states Cullerton unzipped the victim's dress, exposing her bra to a crowded bar, then ran his hands between the victim's breasts.
"You can't come up and unzip someone's clothing, especially in your chest area," noted Moss.
Through some research, WMC Action News 5's reporter Jason Miles discovered Cullerton's political connections. Moss says Cullerton even told club security and police about his political ties.
"I guess he thought that was OK and he could get away with that, I'm not sure," said Moss. "Especially when you tell people ‘stop, don't do that,' and they do it anyways."
Cullerton bonded out of jail on Friday night. He is due back in court on Monday. WMC Action News 5 left messages for Cullerton and his father, but have yet to hear back.
