Yesterday I went to one of the forex to change money but i was asked to pay 1000 Uganda as a charge fee for changing my money from dollars to shillings( tax). I asked the manager of Metropolitan forex Nakumatt near garden city about it but he said Bank of Uganda is aware. That means if i had ten clients and each pays will come to total of ten thousand shillings for just few minutes. Please, i am reguesting the responsible citizens to help us to know the purpose of this money!
I asked the dealer and he told me that fee goes to their association boss. That was all.Bank of Uganda gives the licence to Forex Bereau dealers to transact the business but they are not getting profits then they should close their business and pave way to those who can manage than collecting money from clients. How does that money benifit a local ugandan if its meant for assiciation? Our responsible citizens should help on this matter.
In London for someone to send money to UG it costs by Western Union UG 23,000 approx. for amounts less than £100 !!! Slightly cheaper if 48 hours.
