A group of four horseback riders was taking a break at the French Landing along the St. Johns River near Orange City around 1 a.m. Sunday when a white 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 came speeding up, nearly driving into the river where the riders and their horses were.
One of the riders approached the driver, 21-year-old Christopher Todd (picture), and asked him to slow down. Deputies say the rider and Todd got into a verbal altercation — he used an expletive and she used a racial slur.
Todd started to speed away in his truck, but then made a U-turn and came racing toward the riders and their horses, deputies say. More
