Because methods of doing things have evolved we Ugandans need to adjust and experiment to find what is suitable for us. As they say no-one size fits all. We need to design a political economy model that enables Ugandans to benefit from our resources. The way we are governed with power flowing to the districts from the center isn't working well. Having one president with all powers in his pocket leads to dictatorship, sectarianism etc. Winner take all leaves those in the opposition marginalized politically and economically and socially. The public service commission that recruits, promotes should not be left in the hands of one chairperson. Like a presidential team we need a team at the public service commission. We need to agree on a formula of governance that will allow communities to decide their own future. That is why a national conference is necessary at an appropriate time in the near future.
