MILWAUKEE, WI - Milwaukee police officers in District 5 arrested two burglary suspects — including one who tried to hide by covering himself with dirt — after a witness reported the men were trying to break into a north-side shoe store.
Officers were called about 2:20 a.m. Wednesday to the store in the 4000 block of N. Teutonia Ave., and when they arrived, they saw two men climbing neighboring buildings to reach the store's roof, according to a Milwaukee police.
The suspects fled when they saw the officers, and one of them, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man, dropped a bag containing tools, police said. That man was arrested a block away on N. Teutonia Ave. The second suspect, also 26, was arrested after he tried to cover himself with dirt, and a second bag with tools was found.
Milwaukee police say officers found a hole in the back of a building where the suspects tried to reach through and steal items.
