Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere, the minister for General Duties in the Office of the Prime Minister, has  criticized the media over reports that most of the jobs in State House are held by people from western region.

Journalists, Kabwegere said, should not be duped into believing that such "trivial reports" improve their "reporting and visibility"

"Do not think that reporting more people from the west are in State House makes you a big reporter," the professor of sociology said during a meeting with journalists in Kampala.

A local newspaper reported recently that most of the jobs in the State House are held by people from western Uganda followed by central region.

The newspaper said it based its report on the middle and last names of State House employees that featured in a ministerial policy statement from the Office of the President presented in Parliament recently.

Kabwegyere said journalists were creating "bias" against themselves in the minds of government sources through such reports.

"If that newspaper called me today do you think I will talk to them?" he asked.

Kabwegyere also said he does not think reports about one's private life make sense.

"Kabwegyere kissing a woman on the street is not news….God gave me things why don't I use it?"  he asked.
