They are the sounds of the summer. Near the corner of 87th and the Ryan in Chatham, the curbside "Bucket Boys" have turned a street corner into an empire.
21-year-old Darnell Williams can often be found beating the heat by beating on a drum. A man of natural rhythm, his skills can pocket him up to $100 cash in just a few hours.
While he says there are far worse things the youth of Chicago could be doing, some local residents aren't pleased. One of those people is Worlee Glover, the man behind the blog "Concerned Citizens for Chatham."
While a city ordinance is in place which prohibits this form of solicitation, Williams continues to succeed and make money.
So for now, the beat goes on.
