Four people died and a fifth person was injured in a motor vehicle crash in southwest suburban Bridgeview on Friday evening, authorities said.
The four dead are Aiman Salem, 21, of Worth, Alaa Mustafa Alkhatib, 24, Maria Gonzalez, 52, of Chicago and Hector Gonzalez, 48, of Chicago, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The fifth person, who has not been identified, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with non life-threatening injuries, said Bridgeview Police Commander Peter Kokkinis.
The crash happened around 5:25 p.m. in the 8200 block of South Harlem Avenue, officials said.
The collision occurred between a 2010 Camaro traveling northbound on Harlem Avenue and a Dodge truck traveling southbound, Kokkinis said.
Photographs from the scene showed a pickup truck and a two-door car crushed almost beyond recognition, with their front ends and passenger sides severely damaged.
Kokkinis said people in both vehicles were either killed or injured. He could not provide further details about the crash, he said, as the investigation was ongoing.
