An Evergreen Park man has been charged with first degree murder after police said he fatally shot another man in the early morning hours of July 5.
The charges were announced Monday evening against Richard L. Magnan, 35, of the 2600 block of West 90th Place, in Evergreen Park.
Around 1 a.m. July 5, Magnan shot a 30-year-old man in the 6200 block of South Austin Avenue in Chicago, police said.
The victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead.
The shooting was one of dozens that occurred in Chicago, with 82 people reported shot, 14 of them fatally, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Five people were shot by police, two of them fatally. The long Fourth of July weekend was one of Chicago's most violent on record.
