At least 10 people were shot, two of them fatally, outside an apartment building in Miami early on Tuesday morning, police said.

Gunfire erupted in a courtyard-like area outside the building in the low-income neighborhood of Liberty City at about 2:30 a.m. EDT, according to Miami Police Department spokeswoman Frederica Burden.

Two people died, one at the scene and another after being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, which also received four other victims with various injuries, Burden said.
