A Wauwatosa police detective charged with stealing prescription drugs from the department's evidence room was ordered Tuesday to spend 30 months on probation, according to state court records.
The order came after a 13-month jail sentence and 12-month term on extended supervision was stayed for Robin L. Schumacher, 39, after a plea of no contest to felony misconduct in public office, according to the records.
The plea was entered as part of a plea agreement in which charges of felony possession of narcotics and misdemeanor theft were dismissed, the records show.
In July 2013, Schumacher was caught on surveillance video in the evidence room with two plastic bags and then returning to her desk and removing items from the bags.
She was found in possession of a variety of drugs and admitted to investigators she had stolen the pills, and others, because she was addicted to painkillers, according to a criminal complaint.
