We've just seen the Herald story on broadcasting allocations for the upcoming General Election. And this stood out like the proverbial canine appendage:

With all due respect to Ben Uffindel, any party promising free ice cream and llamas is a joke party. This is an absolute waste of taxpayer money.
But can you imagine how much worse it would be if the Left got its dream of total taxpayer funding for political parties? It doesn't even bear thinking about.
