Two people were killed and at least 25 have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening.
A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed just a few minutes after midnight Sunday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.
Brandon Peterson was standing with a group of people in the 3100 block of West Polk Street at 12:05 a.m. when he was shot in the head and lower left leg, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Peterson, of the 3000 block of West Polk Street, was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:26 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
A man was shot and killed Friday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
Dewey Knox, 27, was standing on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of South Central Park Avenue about 11:55 p.m. when a dark-colored sedan drove past and someone inside fired shots, authorities said.
