Two people believed to be Kewaskum High School students were killed in a car crash Wednesday morning in the Town of Kewaskum involving a Washington County Sheriff's Office squad car
Both the driver of a 2004 Ford Taurus and a lone passenger were killed in the collision. Their names are being withheld pending notification of relatives, Wisconsin State Patrol Sgt. Cedric Rembert said.
The Kewaskum High School web page posted a note saying: "We regret to inform you that two Kewaskum High School students passed away on June 18th, 2014. School district counselors will be available for students and community members at the Kewaskum High School Cafeteria on Thursday, June 19th and Friday, June 20th from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m."
The deputy driving the squad car was treated for minor injuries at St. Joseph Hospital in the Town of Polk.
The Taurus was westbound on County Highway H near Oak Road at 8:39 a.m. Wednesday when it crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound squad car, according to a preliminary investigation of the crash.
Rain and wet road conditions might have played a role in the crash, Rembert said.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the collision.
